Overview

The Latin word "Communis" is where the term "communication" comes from. Literally, the word means to inform, tell, demonstrate, or disseminate information.

Definition of Communication

It is a method by which two or more people share ideas and come to an agreement. It is a methodical, ongoing process of communicating by telling, listening, and understanding. Transmitting information, ideas, and attitudes from one person to another is the art of communication.

Aims of Communication

  • Flow of Information:
    Continual flow of pertinent data is required from top to bottom and vice versa. The goals of the organization and other developments inside the company must be communicated to the personnel at all levels. No one should be mislead, so care should be exercised. The employee should receive the information in a language they can better grasp. Avoid using words that are difficult to understand. The correct person should deliver the right information to the right person at the right time.
  • Coordination:
    The efforts of every employee working for the organization can be coordinated for the achievement of the organizational goals through communication. The core of management is the coordination of all employees' efforts, which can be accomplished through efficient communication.
  • Learning Management Skills:
    The flow of information, ideas, beliefs, perceptions, advice, opinions, orders, and instructions is facilitated by communication in both directions, allowing managers and other supervisory staff to pick up managerial skills from the experiences of others. The message's sender's experience is reflected in it, and the recipient can learn from it by deciphering and studying it.
  • Preparing People to Accept Change:
    Any organization's management can use proper and effective communication as a key tool to implement a broad change in the organization's policies, practices, and working environment while also getting the staff to accept and embrace the change.
  • Developing Good Human Relations:
    Through communication, managers, employees, and other staff members share ideas, opinions, and perceptions. They can better comprehend one another as a result of this. They are aware of the challenges their coworkers experience at work. This encourages positive interpersonal relationships inside the company.
  • Ideas of Subordinates Encouraged:
    Communication makes it easier to solicit and support suggestions from subordinates on certain occasions and for any assignment. This will foster original thought. Honoring the opinions of subordinates will encourage them to work harder and establish a sense of loyalty to the organization. They will be encouraged to freely share knowledge with their superiors as a result. Both supervisors and subordinates should be aware of the opinions, remarks, responses, and attitudes of the lowest level employees in their respective divisions.

  • Through precise acts, it can be easier to change behavior.
  • It promotes effective IPR between people and organizations.
  • It is beneficial to clarify and communicate the facts or information to another individual.
  • It aids in gathering the information required for any project or research.
  • It ensures that social, political, and cultural activities are ongoing.
